Guilford County Animal Services Relocation

Guilford County Animal Services is moving to our new Animal Resource Center in late October. We are looking forward to providing better services for the people and pets living in Guilford County.

We plan on closing our current shelter on the following dates so that we can begin the moving process. The goal is to be fully operational at our new location Monday, November 1st, 2021.

Days the shelter will be closed:

-        October 10th – 12th, 2021

-        October 17th – 19th, 2021

-        October 24th – 31st, 2021

Our website, email, and telephones will be fully operational during the moving process, but we will need to adjust segments of our day-to-day operation in order to continue to provide animal services. Some adjustments are as follows:

Animal Control Officers will only respond to emergency and high priority calls.

  • All essential/emergency animal intakes will continue (dangerous animals, abandonments, cruelty, etc.)
  • Officers will respond to aggressive, injured and/or sick animals running at large.
  • Animal Services will not receive animals that have been trapped by the public (unless injured or sick)
  • Exceptions to this may be made by the Animal Control Manager, Assistant Animal Services Director and/or Animal Services Director.

Owned pet surrender appointments suspended.

  • Only essential/emergency animal intakes will continue.
  • Animal Services will not receive animals that have been trapped by the public (unless injured or sick)

Animal Adoptions

  • Will be suspended during the days we are closed.

Public surrendering STRAY animals will be welcomed with no appointment needed.

  • All essential/emergency animal intakes will continue.
  • Animal Services will not receive animals that have been trapped by the public (unless injured or sick)

Public claiming their animals will be welcomed with no appointment needed.

Community Outreach and special events will be limited.
