The Town Council is looking for Pleasant Garden residents interested in serving on the advisory boards for the Town for 2021-2022. The Boards consist of Long Range Planning, Zoning and Recreation Board. Below are the eligibility requirements and the purpose of each Board.

Candidates for town board positions shall file applications for appointment with the Town Clerk by November 20, 2020.

To be eligible for appointment to a town board, candidates must meet the following requirements:

(1) Candidate must be a resident of the town.

(2) Candidate must be 18 years of age or older.

(3) Candidate must never have been convicted of a felony.

(4) Candidate must never have been convicted of crimes against children.

ZONING BOARD.

(A) The Zoning Board is charged with receiving and acting upon all requests for changes and other matters involving the town zoning ordinance. The Zoning Board shall also oversee enforcement of the zoning ordinance and shall review the ordinance and zoning map at least every five years to recommend any necessary changes to the Town Council.

(B) The Zoning Board is also charged with maintaining relations with county and nearby municipal zoning boards for the purpose of reporting to the Town Council on the potential impact of other governments' zoning efforts on the town and for considering some potential coordinated land development efforts.  

LONG RANGE PLANNING BOARD.

(A) The primary charge of the Long Range Planning Board is to make recommendations on overall planning of town government and community development to the Town Council after careful research as to major changes in municipal services and town development. 
(B) The Long Range Planning Board shall conduct continuing reviews of trends in population, crime, demand for various services, and other community statistics both within the town and in neighboring communities. The Board shall also maintain contacts with other governments and organizations that can provide helpful information or which may have an impact on the town.

RECREATION BOARD – The purpose and primary charge of the Recreation Board is to provide a variety of recreational and educational activities for residents of the Pleasant Garden community.
